Most of us out there don’t just build a blog for fun. I’m sure you’re looking to bring in loads of traffic so that you can spread your word and make lots of money. Well, with a lot of hard work and a great blog, there are so many cool ways to increase traffic to your blog. Keep in mind that if you want to use some of these strategies, you’re going to have to have a website that is considered highly quality.
#1 Reach out to Resources
Try to look for resource pages that are in your niche. For example, let’s say that you run a job related website. Searching for something such as [Allintitle:resources + “jobs”] could yield some great results. Change the “jobs” with other related keywords to see what you can find. Shoot that website owner an email and see if they will link. The worst thing they can say is no! If you do snag a link, it’s a great way to get a link and traffic.
#2 Research Competitors
Ever wonder how your competitor is getting 1,000 of hits on a daily basis? Well, there are ways to tell exactly who’s linking to them. One of my favorite tools is SEOElite. These tools will spider Google and SEOmoz’s OpenSiteExplorer. Browse through the links and see if you can take advantage of any.
#3 Link Out
Don’t be greedy with your website. Be sure to link out to other websites in your post. If people start clicking on these links, they may see your referral coming up in their traffic reports. As a returned favor, they may link out to you.
#4 Submit Videos
If you haven’t done any sort of video marketing, consider creating some quality videos that you can throw upon YouTube and other video directories. Here’s one of the best links on the web: http://www.cucumbernebula.com/blog/a-list-of-link-building-lists/#vss
#5 Niche Directories
Instead of focusing on the directories that add everyone, consider adding your website to a local niche directory. Keep in mind that some are going to charge you, but it may be worth it. For instance, if your website is on law, consider finding a directory on law that you can add your website to.
#6 Guest Posting
Like I’m doing now, guest posting is an awesome way to reach out to a new audience and write a great piece. If people like what you’re writing about, they may click on the link in your author profile. To find these guest posts, search for [guest posts + “keyword”], or use services like MyBlogGuest.com.
#7 Offer Services
Do you offer some sort of service that you can hand out to others in exchange for a mention? For example, let’s say that you can create graphics. Offer website owners a new logo or a graphic of their choice. In exchange, just ask them to link back to you.
#8 Write a Testimonial
Have you used a service in the past? If so, ask them if you can leave a small testimonial. If they use it, be sure to use your name and company name. If they blast it on their main page, you may find potential customers clicking on your URL.
#9 Offer Contests
Contests are a great way to build a brand and draw traffic to your website. Even if you can only afford to give away $20, this is an awesome way to have fun and have new faces find your site. With the contest, be creative! You can do something over Twitter, Facebook or even something right on your page.
#10 Get Interviewed
Getting interviewed by a popular media outlet can draw thousands of eyes to your website. If you don’t know how to reach a journalist, it actually isn’t that hard. HARO, also known as Help A Reporter is a great way to get on a daily newsletter that connects people like you and I to big name reporters.
#11 Contribute to Answers
As the last one on our list, take advantage of answering questions on Yahoo! Answers, Quora and Answers.com. Leave informative answers with a URL back to your website. Don’t just spam here because it could get your website banned.
