This is the first post I’ve written in a good few weeks, in fact the last post I published was back on the 22nd of November, and here’s why?
Sometimes in blogging or when doing business online, a little something called ‘life’ puts you to the test, by throwing a spanner in the works, which can sometimes leave you feeling stunned, suddenly incapable, damn right low and completely de-motivated.
Sometimes we go through tough times and difficult circumstances in life that can affect our ability to continue focusing on whatever it is we’re doing, in my case and in this case it’s blogging. I am currently experiencing one of life’s testing moments myself, hence the long gaps between blog posts, and whilst I’m not able to share with you the dilemma of my current circumstances just yet, for legal reasons, I would like to share with you some tips and suggestions on how to regain some of your passion back for blogging, when life or ‘circumstances’ is putting you to the test.

Additionally:
- Many bloggers experience long breaks due to personal struggles, and resume when motivation returns, not because they lack discipline but because mental bandwidth collapses during stress.
- Real example: A popular UK mommy blogger disappeared for 2 months due to family issues and later shared that the break helped her rebuild authentic connection with her audience.

Separating Life from Work and Focusing on something positive…
This can prove extremely difficult, and I can’t lie, as over the last few weeks I’ve found it extremely hard to concentrate on anything work-related, especially when your personal life is in crisis. However, what I’ve been able to do is spend at least 20 minutes before starting to work on my blog, focusing on something completely inspirational and positive. In my case, I’ve been reading The 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferris, and a few pages before getting started is all I need to start focusing on doing some positive work on my blogging business.
If you’re going through some tough times yourself, I know it’s probably hard to do anything other than think about your problems right now. But if you can, just take 20 minutes to find something really uplifting and inspirational, something that will help you break beyond the four walls that have been surrounding you and become positive. Whether it’s listening to a podcast, or even going for a stroll on the beach and thinking positively about the future that lies ahead, past all the problems that you’re faced with right now… do something positive before you start blogging. Learn how to Maintain Blogging routine.
Look at the progress you’ve made so far…
It’s so easy to lose yourself ‘in the now’ and what’s going on around you, that sometimes you can forget about the great things you’ve achieved with your blog (See more on Blog Post Promotion Strategy), way back before your problems became apparent.
If you’ve kept an account of your achievements to date, look back upon them and remember the feeling that you got when you reached a particular milestone, or achieved a goal. For me I think about the time I launched my first eBook and podcast, the time my blog crossed the 50k Alexa ranking, the time I made my first affiliate sale, amongst many more achievements.
You’ll soon start to find passion to blog again, just by looking at your past achievements. It won’t help you resolve any personal problems, but it can certainly lift your spirits up high again, only if just for a short while whilst blog.
A problem, shared, is a problem halved…
You know the saying, ‘A problem shared is a problem halved’… although sometimes you can’t really share your problems with people for various purposes, however if you’re in a positive and caring community, whether it’s online or offline, and have people who care about you and your blog, especially if you’ve done plenty to help others in the past, then let others know that you’re going through some tough times at the moment and that you look to them for support and reassurance. You’ll be surprised just how caring some people can be.
Remember, blogging is about being in a supportive community, not just on a professional level, but a personal one too, if you think differently, well that’s just too bad.
Well, that’s my tips on staying positive and finding your passion to blog when life is really putting you to the test. I hope to share some more with you about my own circumstances in the coming weeks when the dust has settled, perhaps more appropriately on my personal blog over at Online Income Journal. In the meantime, if you want to share your thoughts and suggestions with the readers below, please do so in the comment section as always.
God bless you all –
