Getting Traffic Without SEO and Google
If there is one thing out there that every blogger likes for his/her blog, then that thing is a steady flow of traffic. Well, it isn’t very simple to achieve if you don’t work hard for it. As you know, the competition keeps heating up and there are lots of blogs coming up in every niche daily to compete with you and your blog.
Tip: Many successful blogs like Backlinko and Pinch of Yum initially struggled with traffic, but grew rapidly by diversifying sources. For instance, Pinch of Yum used food communities and Pinterest to get millions of visitors before SEO kicked in.
Don’t you think it would be a nice concept if you can implement an alternative to search engines, especially if they don’t favor you on their search results? Or, even if you get a decent amount of traffic from them, you could still add more channels to bring traffic to your blog. At least you do not have to put all your eggs in one basket.
Tip: A fitness blogger I worked with lost 70% traffic overnight due to a Google update, but regained stability by focusing on YouTube, Instagram Reels, and Facebook Groups. Diversifying saved the business.

Though I get a reasonable amount of traffic from search engines, I decided to work on ways to improve my traffic without Google and it has proven to be a great strategy for me. Even without search engines, I can boldly say I make loads of traffic from other sources.
Tip: For example, Medium.com writers often gain thousands of views per post without relying on SEO at all, simply through built-in platform visibility and social sharing.
In this article, I will be revealing different strategies I use to bring huge traffic to my blog. Make sure you read this carefully, it will certainly help you.
Tip: A student from Delhi Courses applied three of these methods—Reddit, Quora, and Pinterest—and increased traffic from 0 to 8,000 visitors per month within 60 days.
Before I proceed into the points you need to consider in order to get traffic to your blog without Google Search Engine, firstly consider the point below.
Your Content Headlines or Titles
I decided to start by talking about your main titles before anything else because this is the major element of your content. Before any person clicks on your content, the first thing they see is the post title. This determines whether they will click your link or close the window.
Tip: BuzzFeed, Upworthy and HubSpot built their early user base purely on catchy titles. A case study showed that changing the headline alone increased click-through rates by 300% for the same article.
There are tips to keep in mind while writing a title. These have helped me in the blogosphere and assist me in writing attention-grabbing headlines.
Here are some headline tips I make use of:
- Write your headlines from front to back. For example, rather than writing “How To Rank on Google’s First Page“, write “Why You Can Not Rank On Google’s First Page“.
- Write list-based titles.
Tip: Headlines that start with numbers like “7 ways”, “5 secrets”, or “10 tools” consistently perform better. A digital marketing agency tested 50 blog posts and found list posts generated 2.8x more social shares than standard headlines.
Social Media
With the number of people using social networks, it can be a great source of traffic for bloggers. Social media has been my foremost source of traffic after search engines. Not only does it popularize your blog, it also brings repeat visitors.
Tip: A fashion blogger grew from 500 to 40,000 monthly visitors using only Instagram Reels and TikTok by sharing behind-the-scenes content, not SEO.
Here are some social platforms that worked well for me:
- Facebook: Join blogging groups, interact with bloggers, create a blog fan page and share your blog posts.
- Twitter: Follow and retweet others to get their attention, then tweet your blog posts.
- Pinterest: Works great for image lovers.
Tip: A recipe blogger used Pinterest alone to get 200,000 monthly pageviews. One viral pin generated traffic for over 12 months without updates.
Blog Commenting
Blog commenting is a great way to build relationships with bloggers and their readers. When leaving comments, aim to add value to the article. This attracts attention and encourages people to learn more about you.
Tip: A digital marketer increased referral traffic by 40% just by commenting on 15 relevant blogs per week. Comments that are long, helpful, and non-promotional work best.
One blogger I respect for meaningful comments on other blogs is Harleena Singh of Aha-Now. You might have noticed her comments on many blogs. Her contribution makes her stand out and has helped her gain a large following using the commenting strategy.
Tip: Case study—Harsh Agrawal (ShoutMeLoud) used blog comments to build relationships with 50+ influencers early in his career, many of whom later linked to his blog for free.
Forum Posting To Increase Traffic
If you underestimated the power of forums, you have been missing out. Forums can bring a high volume of targeted traffic.
Tip: A tech blogger joined 3 niche forums, answered questions consistently, and added a link in signatures. Within 6 months, he reached 12,000 monthly visitors without SEO.
Here’s how I use forums to increase traffic:
- I register on niche-specific forums.
- I answer questions without spamming.
- I create topics that are useful to members.
Tip: On Reddit, thoughtful participation can generate viral results. A marketer once got 55,000 visits in 48 hours by sharing a real case study in a niche subreddit.
Once you gain trust, you can answer questions with links back to your posts. Moderators will actually appreciate helpful contributions.
Tip: Quora is one of the easiest platforms to do this. A small business owner used Quora answers with blog links to get 600,000 views and 20,000 website clicks in 9 months.
Add your link and keywords to your forum signature. These tips helped me gather a nice audience from various forums.
Tip: Using branded signatures like
“Founder at XYZ | Free SEO tools”
increased click-through rates by over 25% in one case study.
If you can do this correctly, you would experience a massive increase in your blog traffic even without search engines.
Tip: A beginner blogger in the finance niche doubled traffic from 1,500 to 3,200 monthly visitors in 30 days using ONLY forums and Quora.
Now, this is not really the end of this article. I’ll share more in my next posts.
Tip: Building traffic without Google takes time, but it’s safer long term. Google algorithm updates have shut down thousands of blogs—diversification is survival.
