Aligning Yourself With The Process of Success

When you embark on an opportunity to Succeed in anything, you must align yourself with the tools and strategies in order to get there. The problem with most people that come from an employee background is that they keep the employee mindset which results in continuous failure. The way you think and how you align yourself with each step to success will determine if you succeed or fail. In this post I will talk about what actions you can take on your journey to align yourself for success.

If you feel like it’s difficult to change, you will probably have a harder time succeeding.” ~ Andrea Jung

I thought I’d change it up with this blog post. For the past year most of the subjects I talked about are about how to improve your results with blogging as well as sharing some tools and strategies on online marketing.

Now I like to talk about the mind and really aligning yourself with what you want to accomplish. Right now I like to start off by sharing two experiences I had with you:

  1. How I ran a computer network of a whole school district by myself (roughly 600 machines)
  2. When I was learning how to salsa dance, I use to get turned down a lot

First Experience: Sometimes Working By Yourself Is A Good Thing

It was the end of January of 2005 and the last IT person left the school district. For those that don’t know I work as a computer technician at a school district in the IT (Information Technology) department. I was the only IT person left.

The whole school network was mine to run. I wasn’t terrified, but quite unsure of myself, but still there was quite a bit of confidence I had within myself. It was a challenge I had looked forward to for the longest. I never could imagine that I would’ve been in this predicament. But it was all me, serving the school district office, 1 high school, 1 Middle School, 3 Elementary Schools, 3,000 students, 500 faculty and staff, and roughly 600 machines.

It was exciting but nerve wrecking because the demand was high. But you know what, I took the bull by the horn and ran with it. I supported the whole district by myself (with the exception of computer lab technicians) to the best of my ability. I frustrated quite a few people, and I got frustrated, but I learned so much. The power within me wouldn’t let me give up. I kept going forward because my dreams was being fulfilled! I had dreamed of getting into the computer field since I was 9 years old, and now I have a whole computer network all to myself!

From this experience, I have a lot to add to my resume as well as the experiences I have currently working on the computer network. The experience at that time was for 3 months, then the IT team started to grow again. Now I have a great team that support each other!

I have learned that when times got tough and when there were so many obstacles, the thing that kept me going was the dream I had when I was 9 years old. Plus the new opportunities and challenges that went beyond what that 9 year old could imagine was exciting and lessening my anxiety which each step I conquered. That I tell you was a great ride!

Second Experience: When Addiction And Passion Become One In The Same

In May of the same year, I visit the Dominican Republic and stayed there for a week. This was my first real embarkment on the latin culture. I went with a friend of mine and had a blast down there. Even to the point that I just didn’t want to come back.

Upon coming back, I talked about learning how to salsa dance. I came upon a dance studio and started taking lessons at the end of June of 2005. I tell you I was so horrible at salsa, specifically partner dancing, but the one thing I had over a lot of students was great rhythm. The classes were fun and after each class, the instructor would dim the lights, put on some music and we all would practice what we just learned.

Starting in October, I started hitting up dance clubs which wasn’t the best experience. I use to get turned down a lot. And I mean a lot. Sometimes after one turned down I just didn’t want to ask any ladies to dance. But I was so passionate and addicted to salsa and the scene it didn’t stop me. I kept on going and was able to dance with a few here and there and started to get really good.

I’ve gotten so good that I picked up 4 other styles of salsa dancing. Then i met my girlfriend/partner, won a contest, and started teaching at different places in the Pasadena/Inland Empire areas not too far from Los Angeles.

From this lesson I learned that when you become so passionate and addicted to something, then no obstacle stand a chance in achieving what you want.

Finding Out Your Why (Keep Questioning Yourself Positively)

Questions are quite powerful when it’s used to help push you forward. As for these two experiences, questioning what I need to do to move forward really help me to dig deep and really search my power within resulting in my confidence that came out.

When it comes to your home business, questioning who are you, what you want to accomplish, and what resonates with you matters a between you quitting and you becoming successful.

The problem with a lot of people who take on the challenge of being an entrepreneur is that they ask the wrong questions and affirms the negative self talk. You distance yourself from the power within to the point to where you go back to the routine lifestyle that you really don’t want to be in.

But what type of questions should you be asking yourself?

Why would you ask these questions?

Well for one, it gets closer to that inner universal power within. As you go within yourself further and further, you become aligned to your purpose and real reason why, and become locked in.

The question to start with is “Why do you want to start a business?”

Most people would say to make extra money. Then you want to ask “Why do you want to make extra money?” Then you may say to live a more comfortable lifestyle.

Then you may ask yourself “What does it mean to be comfortable to me?”…

You keep asking questions like these until you can’t. Usually it ends up being at least 10 or more questions.

By the time you run out of questions, you will end up with your core reason why you started your business.

Now why on earth would you want to know this?

Well simply, when you feel that you can’t go any further into your business, you tap into this core reason to fuel you back up to keep moving forward.

There are times when you’ll get really frustrated or even be heavily criticized, but as long as you stick to your core reason why, you’ll brush those negative feelings and negative people aside with ease.

Passion + Action + Focus = Law Of Attraction

Many of you heard of The Law Of Attraction. For those that don’t know, The Law Of Attraction just means that the things that you focus on the most you will attract.

I’ve read from one blog that the Law Of Attraction is nothing more than “The Law Of Noticing”. I can clearly see how relative this is.

For example. Have you ever noticed when you buy a new car you start to see more of the same model and year of the same car you purchased? It’s that they’ve been on the road before you purchased your vehicle, but you never really paid attention to them.

There are some things that you overlook because you’re so focus on specific things. You create tunnel vision for yourself and this can be both a beneficial thing and not so beneficial.

This is something I briefly mentioned in my Last Post where I was so focused on blogging, getting shares, and comments, that I never looked at my metrics to see how I can improve traffic and conversions.

This was detrimental to my progress, so obviously I had to make a change for the better. Have you ever get into a routine like this and don’t take the time to see how you can progress?

Sometimes we get so caught up on a routine that we tend to not focus on the things that benefit us. But when you have passion, you tend to run into or “attract” the very solutions to help you with your progression.

You start to “notice” those little things that you’ve been overlooking that have been blocking the progress that you want. So you take those necessary “action” steps that will keep you moving to the top.

In my case, as well as many of you, you tend to “Fail Your Way To The Top”. This tend to give you the experience and wisdom of achieving the success that you want. This makes it quite challenging but yet at the same time fun!

Affirmations Vs. Afformations (Tapping Into The Universal Force)

Sherman Smith Sometimes the challenges we face can be quite frustrating! I mean failing over and over just to get to the next step can be daunting and draining.

This is why it’s so important as to tap into your passion and ask yourself why are you doing this. This is the fuel that’s going to keep you going.

Speaking of fuel, there are a lot of people that say affirmations on a daily basis. For me, affirmations don’t work so well. So I started doing what you called “Afformations” and I will explain why affirmations didn’t well for me as opposed to affirmations in the video below:

Affirmations compliments what I mentioned about finding your “Why”. You are basically selling yourself to align yourself to keep you moving forward as well as running into and accepting the solutions to maintain that.

As I mentioned, Noah St. John’s book Secret Code Of Success is where I got the idea of doing afformations and it has really made a difference on my journey. But I do highly recommend that you pick up the book and read it for yourself.

Becoming Giving and Personable With Others

The two quality that attracts people to you is that you are Giving and Personable. Giving to the point that you don’t expect anything in return so that others take the tools and knowledge with them to instantly use for themselves, and to be personable enough for people to get to know, like and trust you.

From my own experience, when you are like this, you also start to attract money. I remember when me and my girlfriend was teaching salsa for free, there were a few people who actually offered to pay us for the lessons. At that time, we just really enjoyed teaching enough to do it for free, but also the restaurant we were teaching in fed us free meals anyways.

But the fact of the matter is that through our passion, action, and focus we attracted people who wanted to pay us. On top of this, we tried to get to know people and their experiences with dancing. We made them feel welcome and made sure that they can come back anytime if they wanted to learn more.

Being this cordial really makes attracts people to you. Especially if you have a blog full of great information that people can use for themselves instantly after reading your post. And the best way to really get people from my experience are telling stories. Stories are your human experiences that a lot of people that come to your blog can relate to, whether it be sympathetically or empathetically.

It All Adds Up To Alignment And Balance

When it comes down to this, you’re aligning yourself to your business and what you want to accomplish. Being passionate, taking action, saying affirmations or afformations, being giving, and personable, and leveraging the physical tools we have will allow you to attract the success you want.

You’re “Why” for starting a home business is your foundation, while these things are the framework. No negative criticism or obstacle will be able to keep you from fulfilling your dreams.

The funny thing is that when your mindset is so focus, you start to run into the solutions you need to keep you progressing forward. Yes it’s true when you first embark on your journey to success that a lot of us don’t have a clue as to how we’re going to get there. But for some reason the answers tend to pop up.

That is, if we notice them. There’s an old saying that goes something like “Sometimes we miss the forest while looking for some trees.” Sometimes we’re stress ourselves out looking for something specific where we overlook the answer that lies right in front of our faces.

But once we acknowledge those answers, and get those Aha moments, then all we need to do is fail our way up to success. I say fail because we will make mistakes and go through trials and tribulations, but as long as we keep our eyes on the prize, we will get there!

New Years is right around the corner, so let’s start the new year right with the mindset that’s going to attract the success that we want! Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year To You All!

Now It’s Your Turn!

What is your why?

How do you handle obstacles and negative criticism from your peers, friends and family?

Have you overlooked a lot of solutions because you were focused on one?

How are you going to make the New Year different for your success?

Any plans or New Years Resolutions?

Anything specific that you want to improve on?
